Partner
Eric B. Coleman is a partner at Winter Capriola Zenner, where his practice focuses on litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution in the areas of construction law, real estate, and commercial matters. He represents a wide range of clients, including business owners, property management groups, real-estate investors, and community associations. Eric has extensive experience in complex, large-scale construction disputes, including the pursuit and defense of claims arising out of defective construction, project delays, contract disputes, prompt-pay claims, and lien enforcement. He frequently represents condominium associations, property owners’ associations, and investor/owners in litigation against developers, general contractors, and subcontractors, and has successfully recovered millions of dollars in damages. He also defends clients in similarly high-stakes construction matters.
Eric also has significant experience in litigating business torts such as fraud, business divorces, breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of corporate assets, and embezzlement. He advises corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and developers in navigating complex disputes related to real estate development, construction issues, and business operations. For the small business owner, Eric harnesses the same level of service and expert legal advice his large clients depend on to develop strategic, yet cost-effective solutions catered to the unique challenges every small business faces.
Eric holds an AV® Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest designation for professional excellence. He was recognized in Atlanta Magazine as a Georgia Rising Star in Super Lawyers® from 2013 to 2021 and named a Super Lawyer® in Construction Litigation for 2022-2025. Eric has a 10/10 Avvo rating and is the former Chair of the Construction Section of the Atlanta Bar Association.
Eric grew up in Middle Tennessee and earned his B.S. from the University of Mississippi in 2004, followed by his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2009.
A veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Sgt. Coleman served as a vehicle commander and dismounted team leader, participating in over 250 combat missions across central Iraq and helping to train and equip the new Iraqi Army. For his service in Iraq, Eric was twice awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Action Badge, among other individual and unit distinctions. Eric joined the Army National Guard as a college freshman, just a few months before the tragedy of 9/11. His deployment in 2005 delayed his entry to law school for two years but generated a lifetime’s worth of experience and camaraderie. Though he no longer wears the uniform of a soldier, Eric continues his service through his focus on veterans’ rights and post-war transitioning for his fellow troops.
Outside of the courtroom, Eric enjoys mentoring colleagues and giving back through professional and veteran-focused networks. He also spends his free time hiking, camping, exploring the North Georgia Mountains, kayaking, and traveling with his two young children.
